Update on covid-19 situation in Malaita soon

THE public will soon be updated on the covid-19 situation in Malaita in relation to contact tracing, says Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare.

“We will provide further updates as soon as the results of our expanded contact tracing programme comes to hand.

“I have asked the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the Director of Health and Medical Services in Malaita Province, Dr Henry Kako, to speed up the expanded contact tracing process and swabbing of the other contacts of the student that tested positive while in his village,” he said.

Sogavare said the student that was brought back from Malaita province and is now at the Field Hospital is still negative.

“I am also happy to reconfirm that the 31 tests that were collected in the village where the student stayed in all tested negative for covid-19,” he said.

SIMCAP project eyes 2nd phase

BY MAVIS NISHIMURA PODOKOLO THE Solomon Islands Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology Capacity Development Project (SIMCAP) have eyed implementing the second phase of the project. This was disclosed last week during the wrapped up event of its first phase in Honiara. Speaking during the end event Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDM) Dr Melchior Mataki said the ministry is planning to implement the second potential phase of the project. Tran supports 3 clinics in west Honiara

Namson Tran MEMBER of Parliament for West Honiara Constituency Namson Tran has stepped in to support three clinics with medical supplies as the country faces shortage in medicine. Mr Tran rendered support to three clinics under his constituency including Mbokona, Rove Area Health Centre and White River clinic with medical drugs. Yesterday West Honiara Constituency Constituency Development Officer (CDO) Brain Taupiri officially handed over the drugs to nurses in charge of the three clinics.
